Olean General Hospital has received a $5000 donation from the Greater Olean Association of Churches (GOAC). The GOAC partners with Olean General Hospital to provide “after-hours" pastoral care to patients and their families.
Pastoral Care is available during normal business hours, providing for the pastoral care of patients in their illness, conflicts and tragedies. “We are appreciative of the dedication of the Greater Olean Association of Churches to the spiritual care of the sick, as many know, the emotional and spiritual well-being of patients effects their overall healing,” said Karen Fohl, VP of Institutional Advancement.
“This is such a blessing to our patients as without this partnership, after-hour pastoral care would not be possible. Each year the Association provides a $5,000 sacrificial gift to help support this important program." said Sister Dana Hollis, Manager of Pastoral Care.
Many times emergencies occur on weekends and during evening and night hours. Chaplains at Olean General Hospital often become an important part of a patient’s health care team. The Chaplains offer non-judgmental compassion, understanding and sensitivity to persons of all faiths and no faith addressing spiritual, cultural ethnic and individual needs. They work with area churches and faiths to connect the patients with their pastors, and faith leaders. Pastoral Care also provides information and assistance with Advance Health Care Directives and Health Care Proxy.Back to archive
