Olean General Hospital’s Behavioral Health Unit is a 14-bed inpatient unit that provides a multi-faceted approach to mental health treatment for patients 18 years and older.

The Behavioral Health Unit is located within Olean General Hospital. The unit is geared to provide a safe, therapeutic environment and requires that every patient be searched for contraband after arrival. Contraband is considered any item which a patient could potentially use to harm themselves, another patient, a visitor or a staff member.

INSURANCES

The Behavioral Health Unit is an approved provider for most commercial insurance plans, including Medicaid and Medicare.

THERAPEUTIC STRUCTURE

  • Daily group therapy
  • Individual sessions
  • Secured (locked) unit
  • Active discharge planning

FAMILY AND SOCIAL SERVICES

  • Family meeting prior to discharge

VISITATION

  • Daily 1 - 2 p.m. and 6 - 7 p.m.
  • Only two visitors per patient at a time
  • No visitors under the age 18 are permitted
  • Any items brought into the unit by a patient/visitor must be checked by staff upon admittance
  • No food or drinks
  • Hard candy and gum in original wrapper is allowed

TELEPHONE AVAILABILITY

  • Pay phone is available for patient use
